Pros

Everything is dependent on the project you are working at and people that are there. Pay grades are same throughout Capgemini and as an SDA on full-time it was pretty decent. On my first project I was trained and supported pretty well - every SDA agent was treated same way, everyone answered phone calls, there was bonus scheme and lengthy paid break (45 minutes per 8 hour shift). Everyone had their own PC and seat, no shared places. I had opportunities to broaden my skills, as we were pretty technical Service desk, and we could do quite a lot of stuff before we had to pass it to back line teams. General atmosphere was very positive and that was mainly because of our direct management that was not very strict as everyone was an SDA in the past. As I had opportunity to temporarily transfer and try out other project, I accepted that chance...

Cons

...and that was worst choice ever. Another project was covering multiple clients over multiple languages, I was dedicated support for just one client. That was fine, problem was I received no training and I had no preparation. First week after transfer we had no work to do and when we were assigned to something, no one told us anything, everything was done on "best effort" basis. Quality checks were not quantified - there were no set goals and no one had an idea what are the numbers we need to achieve. Seats and PCs were shared and even though I was in the same company, in the same building - breaks were completely different. Work day was 8.5h of which we had 30 minutes of unpaid break and 15 minutes of paid one. Management told us that their lawyers made sure this is according to our country laws. Atmosphere was pretty bad as everyone was fighting to get the bonus and people were very unfriendly. This was fueled by direct management, which treated everyone as someone worse; most of them never worked as SDAs and had no idea about the job. Project managers were obnoxious and scheming to squeeze every person as much as possible, promoting people that they liked. Overall I wouldn't go back to Capgemini, even with better pay. It is good first job if someone knows other languages but I wouldn't treat Capgemini as career opportunity. Just a trampoline to learn about corporate world and get some procedural/technical/language/soft skills.

Pros

Interesting clients, intelligent people to work with.

Cons

Bullying is rife on some larger programmes where the focus is on delivering against milestones no matter what. Work life balance is non existent on a lot of assigments too with 4+ days on site the norm. We've been told not asked to work 5 days a week and possibly weekends on a failing programme for a major client. Collaboration between the SAP and other non techie consulting teams does not exist. SAP run everything with the transformation and change teams tagged on as an afterthought and treated as lame partners almost like contracted suppliers. Programme directors can be viscious and don't expect any support from your bosses. Pay is poor and HR is a joke. As a senior experienced consultant I have no say as to which assignments I would like to work on which seems odd to me. Really sexist, This company has fewer women in senior roles due to the nature of the culture and the poor work life balance. I have noticed quite a bit of racism too with the teams on projects segregated along racial lines, with very little socialising. I also saw frequent instances of asian guys being talked down and belittled. Their values and actions do not match, one of these values 'fun' is in short supply.

Pros

I didn't see any pros in this company. Might be i landed in a wrong project.

Cons

Countless. People who don't have any knowledge of the projects are sitting higher up the order doing nothing. Freshers are treated as dogs, all of them are either thrown into a support project(they dont have any development projects, during induction itself HR starts telling you about incidents etc etc) or they are given documentation work. 9hrs30mins to be completed in office, i guess this is because this company doesn't do any development work. They don't have any process, exit process was a pain. Nobody in 3 months notice period told me what all approvals were required, i was lucky to get all one day before, i saw few people crying at exit counter as there approvals were still pending. Canteen's food was pathetic, i never got a clean table to eat, people almost everyday fight for spoons. Cab services were again pathetic, a female if leaving at 10:30pm will get drop till home, but a guy will have to wait for 11:30 cab service for a home drop, and if he books for 10:30 pm service he will be dropped at as nearby station which will increase your travel time by twice. People sitting there for 10-15 years doing nothing, they don't have technical expertise nor they know how to manage. There were teams not individuals who just come to office to be on personal calls or to be in the canteen. The account which i worked for didn't feel like a single team, it was like different companies sitting under one roof with blame games between the teams. Same used to happen with onsite counterparts who were happy in saving there seats at onsite, rather then helping the offshore team. Interview process is again pathetic, as higher ladder doesn't have technical expertise they don't know whom to hire.
