Pros

Very nice working environment, startup setup, with on-site bars, free cookies, soft drinks and good coffee in New York offices. Decent benefits such as Medical insurance, 401k, PTO, etc. Integrate with new technologies fast, especially highly recognized in financial industry to adopt AWS thus consolidating on-prem data centers. CEO has very good vision and he is widely respected within or outside of company. Tech side, company is well-know and respected for innovations and quickly adopting new technologies

Cons

Not all groups are equal among groups and teams, tech side Cards and Retail bank maybe very strong, while other groups such as Commercial bank and EDS might be in old schools who try to catch up. Expect drastic changes maybe no one really know the direction to advance technologies. With so-called innovation and transformation, they will keep bringing un-qualified new people to Dir/Sr. Mgr roles and drive 1+ years' veterans out. You will find yourself to be the only few guys as 2+ years tenure in Capital One meeting room maybe due to immigration status. Even if you like the company and try to be really innovative, you will be shut-off by your skip-level Gang of Powers tech leaders since they don't want to veterans to work on anything innovative. Worst of all, they will bash the guys who left the company, to survive HR surveys because they know no way you can fight with them if you choose to leave.

Pros

Benefits are good Work life balance is possible

Cons

Misogynistic/Bro-culture and favoritism - despite there being a group centered around Women in Technology, the actual team dynamics are very different Buzzwords are more important than good work Quality work is not valued as much as who can peacock the best Their recruiters will tell you what you want to hear to get you in the door instead of telling you what the job is really about Very disorganized A lot of bloated legacy systems manned by people who can't think outside their bubble Not friendly or beneficial to engineers that aren't fresh out of college
