SFA - FP&A

Recommend
CEO approval
Business Outlook

Pros

Good culture, flexible environment, good WLB, good benefits, decent salary

Cons

Lack of standardized processes can create avoidable issues, development can depend on manager / team, sometimes employees that are highlighted for value add projects dont actually add much value - at times can feel that what is "liked" by senior management is more important than what is actually impactful. Not a fan of the performance management philosophy they implement of comparing you to peers - creates a "there will always be a last place" type of approach so seems like counter-intuitive incentive structure.

PM makes it bad

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Good wlb, minimal in person requirements in NYC, pretty well tech enabled in my role, salary is good compared to everywhere but big tech

Cons

As others mention, performance management is a huge game and drives the culture. PM is itself stressful but it also permeates into everything, so much of your time is devoted to work that only exists so that your manager has something to talk about during PM. Also other people will try to rope you into projects that only exist for their PM narrative. For me this has become very frustrating and demoralizing over the years
