Pros

Benefits are good and some perks such as working remotely (if you work for the right manager) help maintain work life balance. You'll work with many smart people who you'll learn from; most everyone is amicable and interested in getting things accomplished.

Cons

Tremendous lack of communication from management regarding direction of company. Very political - if you aren't good at promoting yourself and getting the right notice during meetings you will go nowhere. Doing your job well is not enough to get promoted nor is it rewarded. Understand in advance that your job is not secure. If you are promoted during the year, expect to get a poor review when you are first evaluated at that new level.

Pros

The medical benefits are pretty good if you are someone that does not have a lot of medical problems. The yearly incentive for managers can be several thousand dollars. Most front line managers are starting to get laptops. You also get 401k matching, tuition reimbursement, discounted stock, and a decent amount of vacation time.

Cons

Managers rarely get praise and recognition for their work. Promotions usually go to those who fit a particular mold or who are good friends with upper management. You have to live at work to get a decent yearly bonus. They are all about numbers and less about customer service and doing the right thing. They will skip on making on process right if they can tweak it for cheap.
