Thank you for your review and feedback. We appreciate that you found the job comfortable to do and was a good fit for you in the short term. We hope that you had a discussion with your manager about any additional hours that you were available to work or about your career aspirations. Having a meaningful career conversation helps both you and your manager determine what you'd like to do and what development could be available for you. We have many opportunities to progress within the organisation, and not just in retail. To learn more about the opportunities we have you can visit jobs.coop.co.uk and learn more about all of our business areas.

Pros

30% of own brands card. Can do overtime in other coop stores.

Cons

No security staff to stop shoplifters and their abuse/threats and if local the worry of being targeted at home residence/neighbourhood when have to challenge them ourselves. No guarantee of promotion unless a favourite regardless of long track record of ability/reliability/dedication/long service Unfairness will stop or hinder career progress.Less colleagues with more and more added workloads,=less time for great customer service and pulling products forwards for customers to actually see, reach and therefore purchase.Very low actual contract hours means most have to hope and ask for overtime weekly and work some hours on a week off to survive.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and for your long service with Co‑op, your commitment over more than 10 years is genuinely valued. We’re pleased to hear you’ve found benefits such as the colleague discount and opportunities to work across stores helpful. At the same time, we’re really sorry to hear about your concerns, particularly around safety, fairness, and workload. Feeling unsafe at work is not something anyone should experience. If you haven’t already, we’d strongly encourage you to raise these concerns with your Store Manager or Area Manager, as well as through the confidential Colleague Helpline or internal reporting channels, so that they can be properly reviewed and acted on. It’s important these situations are formally logged so the right support can be put in place. We also recognise your concerns around progression, fairness, and contracted hours. If you feel opportunities haven’t been applied consistently, speaking with your line manager or People team can help ensure your experience and aspirations are understood, and that you’re given clarity on development pathways and decisions. Your feedback highlights areas that matter deeply to colleagues, and raising them internally, alongside sharing them here, helps to make sure that they are visible and addressed. Thank you again for your honesty and for the contribution you continue to make.
