Pros

There are very few Pros to working for Cognizant beyond the fact that the salary gets paid on time every month. If you want to progress in your career do not join this company. They literally could not care less about the careers, health and welfare of their staff. Senior managers treat more junior staff like serfs, to be shipped on to the next client site with no interest in their own ambitions or goals.

Cons

The list of cons is very large -The organisation has absolutely no interest in staff career progression. It is solely about whether you are billing or not -Line management is non existent. I have had more career chats and coaching from my client in the last 18 months -Staff have no influence on where their next assignment is. I was pressurized at one point to take a role as a BA having just lead the tech work stream for a multi million £ banking regulatory programme -Not a meritocracy. Promotion is based on time served and whether you are in favour offshore or not -It is one of the least diverse organisations I have ever worked for, senior women and other minorities are not visible at all. Most mid to high level management jobs taken by middle aged Indian men -Account management when on site is terrible. Account managers generate invoices, literally nothing else -Back office systems are chaotic with huge amounts of data duplication and constant demands for the same information -Tidal waves of utterly inane emails from support functions that have no relevance at all to front line staff -Benefits are terrible with only (not great) pension and death in service worth having. There is no leave purchase scheme at all.
