Kind people in a frustrating corporate system
Pros
My manager and most of my coworkers are kind people and want to help the best they can Exciting to work in avionics on flight software Flexibility in using vacation and sick time All holidays are off and get a full week at Christmas time Usually aren't stressful deadlines when we have enough people to get the work done
Cons
Lack of documentation Lack of ability to improve software and ways of testing due to it being an older department Higher stress/workload due to recent layoffs this year Older building and work space Winter time can be difficult due to cloudiness and very cold weather Sometimes difficult to work with people due to misunderstandings/assumptions that I should know certain information (not sure how but wish management would help to bridge these gaps more through better training) Lack of SMEs - especially in older departments Lots of changes since Raytheon bought Collins and changed it from Rockwell to Collins Aerospace
