Pros

- Company values are great and aligned with people - Fun and truly collaborative environment - Variety of projects - Product Owners are very good and skilled - Senior management is thoughtful, respectful and willing to listen to staff concerns

Cons

- I find the payment to be adequate for entry level folks but senior folks tend to leave for better payment - Senior engineers tend to accumulate too many responsibilities; they tend to have double duty and need to share their time with the external (customers) vs internal (Connected) responsibilities - Some projects are full of recent graduates and many not benefit from more experienced folks

Thank you for the 5-star review! I really appreciate you sharing your experience and being part of what makes Connected an amazing place to work. I take pride in hearing that the leadership team is thoughtful, respectful and listens to Connector’s concerns. Connected regularly reviews salary relative to contribution and to the market. With the market as it is today, we want to make sure that our total compensation package is attractive to Connectors at all levels. Total compensation includes base salary but, for Connectors it also includes annual performance bonuses, a great RRSP-matching program, vacation and other days off, great health care benefits, support for setting up your home office and taking care of your well-being. With regards to the senior engineer’s responsibilities, we rolled out an updated banding structure to set expectations and we'll be introducing updated pathing to help level the load. Second, rotation suggestions are surfaced as part of quarterly planning and this will help to balance with internal and external responsibilities. - Mike Stern, CEO

Thank you for the strong review. It is great to see that your experience at Connected has been supported by your team and leadership, and is in line with our values of being a teacher, and a learner. I hear you when you say that the experience that you have is reflective of the client's requirements. This is something that we also recognize and are making an effort to better through different initiatives that will strengthen the Connector experience. Some of these initiatives include providing certification training on the Connected Playbook and improving our tooling and methods. As well, thank you for providing your honest feedback on our health benefits package and compensation. - Mike Stern, CEO

Pros

Connected is a great place to work. They have some really stellar clients across a wide range of industries, which allows you to get a peak into how different companies run their business. Aside from the projects themselves, the people/platform guilds/teams always encourage learning so that you're always working on the latest and greatest tech. The company values are also something to mention. They're very much practiced top-down, so everyone really embraces them as a whole. As one of the reviews below mentioned - benefits was a bit lacking, but over the last while they've put some good measures in place and really leveled up here. Compensation is also fair and they've recently implemented a bonus structure which is great.

Cons

Pairing may not be for everyone. If you have an open mind and have done your research on the benefits then it'll work in your favour. Otherwise be weary that it can be taxing at times and you'll be working with different personalities, all while working from home now. Covid has obviously had a big impact on everyone, Connected included. A lot of the activity and culture portion has been tough to replicate (trips to Algonquin, social events with your "house", etc...) but the team had been trying to find ways to uplift everyone's spirit. This definitely puts a hamper on things since I'd imagine it being difficult to really "sell" that fun side of Connected. In any case this should be temporary, and hopefully things will go back to normal soon.

Thanks for great review and your transparency about how we are trying to be both proactive and responsive where we need to be. We’ve double-downed on transparency, as you mention, and it’s great to see that it’s resonating with Connectors. I’m also glad that you saw Connected as a great place for learning and advancing your career. We’re continuing to focus on that, not just because it’s one of our values, but because we want to be a place where people stay to continue to learn or move on to other companies but embed that learning culture there as well. This way we all win. When we’re able to have people back in the office we’ll be sure to invite our former Connectors to celebrate that with us! Stay tuned! - Mike Stern, CEO
