Pros

If you are into enterprise organizations, Dell is certainly large and has all the trappings that a large international corporation has. There seem to be plenty of internal opportunities and as with all large companies you must actively manage your career. However see below for the things where I think Dell is lacking.

Cons

The services business is amateur hour. Business focus and goals are just catching up with where other organizations (Like HP and IBM) implemented 10+ years ago. Senior management, in services, seems to be a old-boy network centered in India. While the remote workforce is growing, support for remote works is very poor. The infrastructure is not suitable for the workload. The laptop image is unstable and contains application versions that do not work together. And IT support is slow as they are also overwhelmed with the volume.

Pros

The corporate culture supports and encourages fast paced learning. It will force even the most skilled communicator to challenge and grow in their ability to lead and manage change. With Dell now a private company I have no doubt that they will reinvent their organization as planned.

Cons

The challenges of short wins and aggressive sales goals can be uncomfortable if you prefer predictable assignments and clear objectives. If you don't like ambiguity, don't apply. It is part of your evaluation and it is not joke, so make sure you can handle that type of environment.
