In Deloitte Services, having a college degree puts you at a distinct disadvantage, because you will constantly be fighting an uphill battle with extremely incompetent low-level yes-man managers who resent your education. If you are innovative and problem-solving oriented, they will happily use your talents to make their job easier, and then also happily not reward you for your contribution. There is the endless harassment of professional development and education initiatives, which are hypocritical because most of the management do not have college degrees, nor do they have any discernible knowledge in basic management theory. Evaluations are based more on your managers personal opinion of you than anything else, and they will focus on what they don't like about your personality, rather than the value you bring to the organization.

Performance evaluations seem to be based on a buddy system. If you're lucky enough to get in the inner circle, you find a wealth of support and project opportunities at every turn. If you're on the outside it will show in the way of lower evaluations and lower raises. The most critical unwritten rules of the organization and the keys to success are rarely stated bluntly. In order to be successful, you MUST be able to read between the lines and pick up on informal cues. Most consultants do this naturally, but if you struggle with indirect feedback Deloitte is NOT the place for you.
