Pros
- Challenging work environment - you are encouraged to keep growing your knowledge and skillset. - Great title to put on your resume - Deloitte is brand name that gets respect. - Excellent Training - If you contribute to winning proposals it gets you noticed by Senior Management and Partners and gets you promoted. - If you consistently do a great job for at least one key Senior Manager or Partner they become your champions in the organziation and can pull you up the corporate ladder single-handedly.
Cons
Long hours - limited work/life balance. You are expected to do a lot of after-hours work to rack up the career mileage to get you promoted - e.g. contribute to proposals and other Practice development efforts. Too much emphasis on wiining business and revenue generation - no real reconginition or reward for consultants doing a good job everyday in the client engagement. In the yearly review cycle they put you up against all your peers in the entire practice and if you didnt do the extra-curricular work, you wont get an above-average rating even if you are doing above average in your client engagement everyday. No significant increases in remuneration unless promoted. SIGNIFICANT internal politics.
