Pros

- Some of IT projects are engineerengly challenging and widely used in the bank - competitive salary, especially for higher ranks - good and nice colleagues - flexible working hours - the company has started to spend a lot on IT, especially in recent years - job security, you can successfully pretend to be working for years - flexible working hours - business class transcontinental flights

Cons

- Inefficient management obsessed with maintaining good relations with their bosses no matter what and keeping the status quo - highly hierarchical management structure with many levels of hierarchy and employees on all levels being supposed to "know their places" - favoritism and lack of promotion and recognition for the rest - innovation culture is not there at all, you do what you're told to do and keep your ideas to yourself unless someone higher than you has expressed them already - no perks, goodies and amenities - crappy office (this will change in 2011 when they move to a different building) - high workload on some projects - overbureacratic and very slow internal processes, like buying the software that you need to do the job, etc.

Pros

- Advancement is based on meritocracy. - Benefits are among the best of it's competitors. - Compensation is based on performance. High performers are paid well. Low performers are not.

Cons

- The internal HR recruiting is not great which makes moving between different groups at DB dependent on individuals but this has improved over the past couple of years - Promotions can be very political as committees comprised of senior managers outside of evaluatee's organization are part of the process

Pros

Deutsche Bank is a good company to work for many reasons. Their compensation (401K, Time off, flexibility, Medical benefits) are quite good. In addition, the atmosphere is quite friendly and relaxed. During my time at the bank, I made a lot of friends and gained a lot of useful knowledge and experience that I will be able to take with me into my next career.

Cons

I personally did not have many negative experiences within the Bank. The only downside I did witness was that it was difficult to move up to a higher job title. It normally took years before upper management would promote you. Instead, the Bank was often content to higher someone outside the company for a position versus promoting from within.
