Surrounded by talent but compensation structure not great
Pros
-Filled with talent and ambitious people that get things done, learned so much in my time there -Management recognizes performance, and will identify you and put you on the fast track to a promotion, so you can earn your way up there if you're young and not worry about being behind someone that's been there longer but not a high performer like you are, it's definitely more merit based -On the forefront of addressing/solving the most cutting edge/emerging issues/problems/etc. in banking
Cons
-Comp structure for AVP and below is just a base, then quarterly recognition bonus of 5% (eligible to get this quarterly, up to 2 quarters in a year, so 10% max a year), and then a 5% variable bonus, so if you're not recognized as a high performer, you might only get your base + the 5% variable -Once you get VP and above, you'll get base + a variable bonus again (20%+ depending on your role and level), but internal promotion raises are not great (9-15% raises) -Lots of bad press directed at DB right now, so reputation might be down, but bank is not going anywhere, anytime soon
