Pros

Just for a paycheck. The campus is nice, the gym is nice for 20 bucks a month. The cafeteria is decent. Teh benefits are pretty good. They pay for school, and full benefits. Time off is pretty good from the start. They just started a hoteling program where people work from home 3 days a week and reserve a temporary cube while they are in the office.

Cons

The people are negative, always compaining and pointing fingers. Thats not my job is said too often. The management is sneaky about layoffs, they manage on personal feelings and vendettas. Time management does not exist since everyone has back to back meetings. There is no room for advancement. They claim to promote from within but they are always bringing in outsiders. People are unhappy but in this economy there is nowhere else to go. I was very surprised at how much complaining and backstabbing went on. It was like high school all over again.

Pros

Well, you can say you have a job which is a little better than saying I am unemployed. They do have good facilities and there is a strict corporate environment. You do have some security if you are not a salaried employee and you will have some OK insurance if you are a full or flex time employee.

Cons

I worked for Discover for over 8 years. When I first started it was a great place to work. You were proud to say I work at Discover, however, over the last three years the corporate culture deteriorated. Management was not as flexible with employees and less respectful. Now they have a hard time hiring employees at nearly any level.

Pros

Benefits are great, fairly casual environment, and some genuinely good people. 25 PTO days off is a great benefit and their health care offerings are some of the best that I have seen. The work environment is business casual, with some jeans days on Fridays, and there is an opportunity in the summer to work 4 nine hour days and take a half day on Friday.

Cons

Career advancement is almost non-existent. All management and above positions are hired from outside Discover so that leaves insiders out in the cold. If you are a younger employee looking to gain experience there is a lot of opportunity, but to be able to move up the ladder you will most likely have to go elsewhere.
