      Very nice people; good pay/work environment but the job’s not for everyone.

      Pros

      Can pick days you work, fun and nice coworkers, plenty of hours, working week days = 40 hours/week. Good pay $10/hr during first 3 days training, increases to $11/hr base pay afterwards, and there’s a great bonus structure which raises your pay to $15-$20 per hour if you get enough donations. Decent upward mobility, if you’ve been there for a few months there’s a good chance you can become a field manager for a bit more pay.

      Cons

      You must be personable and represent WPT/PBS and WPR (or whichever organization you’re canvassing for if outside Madison) for several hours, and some people don’t appreciate door to door canvassers. However, you can’t take it personally and should do your best to maintain a positive attitude. It can also be challenging to persuade people to becoming sustaining donors but that is much more useful for the stations’ budgeting than one time donations.

      Pros

      Second shift caters to colleges students wanting to party and sleep in. Working outdoors is nice.

      Cons

      Working with lots of rude people in door to door sales. Be prepared to be yelled at and feel pretty low throughout the day.
