Pros

The money & for some bizarre reason having it on your CV is impressive to people. For me I had an impressive corporate background so was promoted within a year.

Cons

Stuck in the 1950's, a real eye opener having worked in the corporate world my whole life. Very sexist, all male management in my department which is not in line with other organisations in this day & age. Even women played a part in trying to get men promoted, instead of women. I was stunned. Found alot of staff, including 2 partners, very incompetent & lacking in intelligence. Some people were considered "senior" at their job but if they worked elsewhere I think they'd be defined as "intermediate" & in some cases, even junior! Far too many support staff, far too many p/a's, always milling around with nothing to do. "Peer reviewing" and the monitoring of staff behaviour was beyond belief, it seemed more time was spent "proving" things about people than time being spent on actual work. Did not think this branch was client focused at all, people were slow to get back to clients and slow to apologise for mistakes. Some clients were grossly overcharged for shoddy work. Very much an old boys network, there were some very incompetent employees who should have been moved on, but appeared to be kept only because of who they knew, or their past reputation at previous organisations. This was even though many staff and managers had complained about their work performance, unexplained high absenteeism, etc.

Pros

Decent learning environment where most people try to help out. Managers are a great resource and will make you more proficient at what you do. The learning curve is extremely steep and you can learn a lot in a fairly little amount of time. Formal training classes are top notch with great instructors. Mentor networks are also highly encouraged and useful. Flexibility when it comes to hours is also good. Overall, surrounded by extremely bright people who are, for the most part, down to earth and easy to get along with when working long hours. Great place to work as a first job out of college to learn quickly and advance faster upon leaving. The name is highly respected in industry.

Cons

Long hours and merely average pay. Tasks as an auditor can often become very routine and mundane. Often you will be left to the wolves and partners are not as knowledgable as they should be about subject matter. No true bonus structure. Hard work and going above and beyond maybe rewarded with a $100 gift certificate which strategically comes at Christmas time. Simple thank you's are also hard to come by for a long week's work when trying to meet impossible deadlines.
