Pros

This company floated through the depression in the stock market like it barely even happened. The sheer size of the company combined with the nature of products we sell makes it a behemoth that's pretty well buffered from the ups & downs that have a much bigger impact on other companies. We also tend to buy out any up-and-coming small company that could be a disruptive force, and integrate them in to "the borg". So if you're a competent employee, your job and benefits are pretty rock-solid stable.

Cons

Sort of the nature of the beast in a company this large: lots of bureaucracy which results in a significant portion of our time being spent on activities that are unproductive. Also, the company is much more manufacturing-oriented than technology-oriented, so there's not a very attractive career path for those who want to remain on the engineering side of things rather than jumping ship to management.

Pros

This is a great opportunity to really make a difference. I feel empowered and supported by management to make positive changes. The company takes its culture and values seriously. We do business right!

Cons

By cutting back during the recession the salaried workforce became pretty thin so we work very hard. But we are hiring so things are looking good.

Pros

Highly ethical company and treats their employees fairly, good learning environment, highly educated and experienced senior leadership, professional work environment. Good pay for what you do and benefits are good as well.

Cons

Work load at times can be heavy with high pressure deadlines that are sometimes unrealistic and cannot be accomplished. Merit increases can be a bit flat.
