Pros

Large well known company. Depending on the department you are in there are opportunities to grow and learn a lot.

Cons

Everything sounds good but they don't practice what they preach. Processes are put in place but are only followed by certain people, others are not held accountable. Depending on the department, skills and talent are not taken into consideration for new opportunities, they like to fill quotas and there are a lot of management clicks. I've seen a lot of good people leave recently because of poor management. If you are not in management it is difficult to advance in the company. Talented people are held back because their managers don't want them to leave their team. They restructure each year and if you are not promoted during the restructure you will get a new manager who will tell you your past efforts don't matter, you need to "prove your worth" again to them. It is a viscous cycle.

Pros

The junior employees and engineers make Eaton great.

Cons

Managers tend to either be "heavy-handed" or a wimp. The heavy-handed ones are domineering, opinionated, closed-minded and unprofessional. The wimps cower and let the bullies rule. I don't think this culture exists in the rest of the company. Your division may vary..

Benefits not good as a package

Pros

Salaried Employees....at this site most managers do not track vacation time used and HR has expressed a term Take as much as you want, there are no restrictions. Now that may not be the case with all managers as there are some that go by the rules but you don't know until he's your boss. Negotiate leave if they extend a offer or be upfront before hand they will flex on your vacation allowance. Hourly employees- think twice

Cons

The new benefits for 2016 are terrible. They keep taking away which is something Eaton seems to enjoy doing. If you are married and you have some insurance with your spouse but they don't offer something that Eaton does. This coming year you can not take for example dental. You either have to take the whole package or nothing at all. very unfair. Its not fair for the employees but I guess its a great cost savings to them as a company,. Flexible spending accounts went away...WHY? its a non cost benefit to the employer other than funding it up front at the beginning of the year all the while the employee pays it back with Payroll deduction. Don't' take the job because of benefits...Eaton's motto is They don't want to Offer the Best Benefits they just want to be on Average. Why not try to be competitive with better than average????
