Pros

competitive salary and benefit for the type of industry it is. Good medical benefits and some extra benefits for discounts.

Cons

Agree with other person here about the true workload and expectations that make it tough for a life outside. Also felt it was coercive when the direct management wants you to follow a certain way; no open discussion. The experience by employees will so depend on what unit and department they work in and on what type of person is their direct supervisors. Again I agree what I found to be extremely wrong choice for lower management ; ones not showing any business manner. Wonder about how recruiting and hiring is done as it appears often employees talents and skills are not utilized in the right way for both sides to make the best of it.

Pros

Wonderful people to work with but you will find that at most places. Good pay and benefits. Clean and progressive facility and building. Cutting edge training offered but no time to take any of it. Some of the employee meetings they show patient videos which drives home the purpose of the business.

Cons

Difficult people to work for. Employees are not a resource to be developed but a commodity to be consumed and discarded. Not a lot of seasoned employees - lots of university interns and recent graduates with minimal experience but a willingness to work long hours. Edwards sought me out and I was hoping for a long term career. I figured out within the first couple of months that this would not be the case. Friends, family and past colleagues that contact me about working for Edwards - I suggest that they look elsewhere for employment. Management believes that true motivation comes from having your job threatened. An extremely toxic work environment. 10 - 11 hrs a day is the expectation.

Reputation of a Great Place to Work is No Longer

Pros

Pay appears good on surface until you actually experience what is expected. Decent benefits on par with other major medical device companies. Decent cafeteria on site. Many well equipped conference rooms on campus so that you can carry out productive meetings. On site gym is decent and monthly dues are cheap. Basketball court on site too. Non smoking campus.

Cons

Highly political organization where you find your job will be pulled in all directions. They will always use the excuse that "we are saving lives" to cause you to work ultra long hours. Work life balance is not a consideration. Sink or Swim Environment. Processes are not up to par with the result that you will have to work extra hard to get the job done to expectation. Again, work life balance is not a consideration. If you don't do as told or "as expected,", you may experience coercion. Competitive and cutthroat work environment some might even call abusive. This place is very different from what it was just five years ago as I experienced. There has been high turnover and some of this turnover continues to today. They give you "one week downtime holiday" between Christmas and New Years so you are sold that you get three weeks vacation. In reality, only works out to about 2 weeks and three days vacation with no floating holidays. So, it's just like you are starting out in any other company with two weeks vacation keeping in mind other companies usually give you two floating holidays.
