-People are hardworking and high achieving similar to it's student base -You can make immediate and positive impacts from day one in your role -Flexible schedule for most part of the year (supervisor dictate this differently) -Opportunities abound for growth in other areas of professional/personal interest -Collaborative environment lends very well to growing your network if you know how to play the political game -Professional development focus, funding and opportunities are leaps and bounds beyond most schools Elon's size or type. This is a cultural facet from the top down that is hard to replicate or find at most schools let alone small private ones. -All levels repeatedly state and voice a conscious effort at doing and supporting anti-racist work and increasing DEI knowledge/skills of staff/fac/students but the delivery doesn't match the volume of what is projected as reality.

Cons

-Salary is too low for the overworking they will do of you -"Elon runs lean" is shared by senior admins like its a slogan of pride when it should be one of shame. The lean nature of staff leads to burnout frequently of talented and exceptional folks who could have benefitted the institution long term if the institution took care of properly investing in it's folks the same way the invest in it and through their work. -Many of Elon's professional practices (Striving for perfection; "The Elon way"; micromanagement; hierarchical structures; etc.) are steeped in white supremacist culture -All levels of admin. repeatedly state and voice a conscious effort at doing and supporting anti-racist work and increasing DEI knowledge/skills of staff/fac/students but the delivery doesn't match the volume of what is projected as reality. -Supervisory structures are riddled (not entirely) with folks who have mentality of "I suffered though and paid my dues to get to where I am so everyone else needs to do the same" which is a toxic mindset to have as a supervisor.
