Pros
Learning is good. Because AMD is trying to beat Intel, Nvidia and Apple, their projects are good learnings
Cons
Its been a year I am with AMD. Below are some of the Cons which might help you while choosing your next destination. 1. There is no work-life balance at all. In the motive of beating every competitor out there, AMD is actually killing its employees. Our manager clearly says, there is no work life balance here, there is no option but to work for more than 10-12 hours to complete the work. But in reality, you end up working for 15-16 hours. 2. There is status meeting almost every other day. Tracking is done to very minute level 3. Micromanagement is prevalent 4. They have releases almost every month but time given is so short that one cannot deep dive to its fullest as task needs to be completed soon 5. Their appraisal cycle is worst of anything. Their appraisal period is from Jan to Dec, but the hike is effective from July next year. 6. Due to this, many employees in our team and others are speculating to leave once situation outside settles 7. Because there was uncertainty in market, AMD CEO deducted 20% of yearly bonus from every employee. And few days later, she was entitles a bonus of ~1 Million USD. Hypocrisy. 8. The reason AMD was in top 100 best companies to work is because their share price has increased dramatically and this has benefitted employees. 9. This is the company which doesn't give basic facility like internet bill compensation, office cabs or even proper food in their pantry, though they are making money because of the hardwork of employees.
