Pros
If you love driving and meeting people, the job is fantastic. Listen to your music and podcasts in the comfort of your van, see the beautiful countryside if you cover a rural area, most people are kind. It's the best job I've ever had, love it.
Cons
Asda specific, but the pay is poor in comparison to other companies as drivers are paid the same as those on the shop floor, whereas other companies give a £1 to £1.50 skill pay for driving on top of your base pay. Expected to drive out in all weathers, get into tricky locations, manoeuvre out of tight situations. The job requires a lot more responsibility and skill than other roles within the store yet there is no reward for it, hence the turnover rate is awfully high. You can meet the odd unpleasant person on the job too, whether that be on the road or whilst serving a customer, and you are solely responsible and left alone to deal with it. No bonus pay like other stores too.
