Pros
Great staff, they all try to be great team players (even given cons) scope for promotion (if required given cons) all staff want to work their best including shop management! Team leaders are trying their best! You just cant beat the amount of effort staff will put in. Great xmas parties, buffets regularly put on for different reasons well in with the community having regular community activity events or coffee mornings. Plenty charity events happening. When working well its a great atmosphere. 10% discount is quite good n the occasional colleague discount days they have where we get more didvount is even better.. great breakfast served from the canteen (always look forward to that)
Cons
1)Hours kept a minimum yet work requires more... 2)Told we have to take holidays when they want so they can save hours to fit in with the restrictions on hours.. 3)When a staff member is ill or on holiday it is rare that they will cover them so other already stretched staff are expected to take on yet more work. 4)With hours restricted, the little staff that are on have to prioritise jobs resulting in other jobs getting missed such as racking of over stock which then lead to stock going out of date in the back and later being wasted., restricted hours also lead to us rushing our jobs and date checks on shelves is not thorough leading to out of date stock still on shelves which customers have been known to point out to me and my collegues leading to embarrassment for us and asda, it also leads to high waste which then leads to staff being lectured on waste volume but it is the structure they have on hours that causes this and they have their selves to blame no one else!! Yet they dont seem to blame them selves.. 5)Hours restricted and jobs not getting done properly or not at all, leads to empty places on shelves resulting in customers commenting to us about it and again resulting in embarrassment for us and asda. 6)already stretched on our own departments when queue busting is called we MUST go and work on a till wether we are busy or not (we are always busy) they have bern known to take me and the only other colleague on my department to queue bust leaving our department without a staff member for sometime. 7)Our rushed manner results in us rushing to take customers to products and not giving the full expected customer service that asda insist on and we are being tested on this via secret shoppers it is easy to fail given the amount of work we have and our rushed manner. This is not a fare test 8)better turn over leads to more hours but the restrictions on hours leads to poor turnover which then leads to restrictions in hours!! = we just cant win 9) when we are getting supposed surprise visit from the area manager, we know they are coming because other stores phone and warn us. Suddenly they are able to phone staff and ask them to come in and dish out a load of hours, all work is done as should be because there is enough staff! ...The store doesnt really work like that!! But this proves it can if the right amount of staff is on 10) staff have been known to clock out and continue to work just to complete jobs they don't want to leave half done purely coz they dont want to let the team down. In short the hour structure is causing more harm than good and is terrible!
