Unlike many high tech companies that I have worked - I like the frugal ways of Amazon. It is more long lasting that way and enhances the share holder value in the long run and as an employee you do hold a large amount of company stock. There are lot of new initiatives which keeps the innovation level very high. At the same time mere visionaries and arm chair thinkers have no chance of surviving in the company. Innovation is only respected if you can execute.
