Hard to get a job - DCEO Technician Amazon Web Services Employee Review

Pros

Great company to work for with great benefits.

Cons

Very bad recruitment. The recruiting bots makes hiring quality candidates nearly impossible as it automatically disqualifies them. Watching vendors and contractors on site freeze to death because AWS won't allow them coffee. Watching security officers urinate themselves because they're unable to be relieved or posted where they cannot be relieved. Watching contractors forced to hydrate themselves only on breaks. Watching people getting BOLO'D and escorted out for being offered a position at Google or another competitor that pays way more for their employees than AWS. Example: AWS DCEO makes 60-80k annually. Competitor DCEO makes 100-130k minimum. They want you to sign a contract not knowing what others get paid who work the same job everyday because you'd be mad if you knew.

Pros

Ambitious projects if you're in the right team. Typically great team-mates. Don't believe the memes, the ppl are not back stabbing jerks but are overall genuinely nice. Not constrained by budgets when building cool things. Tools while sometimes clunky are powerful.

Cons

Schizophrenic lack of focus, entire teams get split, merged and upended multiple times a quarter. Some product managers are disconnected from reality. It didn't use to be the case, the PM-Ts were previously top notch. You're pushed to vibe code everything. Established products with loyal customers are getting neglected. Newer VP level leaders don't seem to know what they are doing. Veteran OG VP level leaders are either leaving in droves or seem stressed or checked out.
