Pros

Training and remote onboarding were excellent.

Cons

We've gone from "work where you're most productive" to "you must be in the office" in the space of three months. I honestly thought Amazon ran on data, and follows its Leadership Principles, but apparently that doesn't apply to the CEO and leadership team. The return-to-office dictate has no data to back it up, and a 30,000+ strong petition from concerned employees, backed up by hard data and study after study, is being ignored completely. Instead we're forced back based on 'feelings' about 'culture'... This goes directly against Amazon's climate pledge, and shows that Amazon is just another hulking company bowing to the almighty shareholders. I feel like I was lied to throughout the recruiting and onboarding process, since those focused so much on the Leadership Principles that Amazon's leaders ignore.

Pros

Strong engineering culture, competitive pay, great learning opportunities, and excellent internal mobility across teams.

Cons

Work-life balance can be tough, on-call rotations are demanding, and the pace is fast with high expectations.

Pros

- Strong place to be early in your career as it provides valuable training and the brand recognition can create strong future opportunities. - Is great if you’re interested in what you’re doing/selling

Cons

- 5 days in office is not great for work/life balance - If your manager doesn’t like you, good luck! - 401k match is lower than most companies - Base salary compensation is weak compared to other big tech - Leveling/career progression is near impossible due to reorgs leading to a promotion “freeze” - Role can evolve over time in ways that may not align with original job expectations
