Pros
Coming from a global systems integrator with a big SFDC practice, I was looking for a switch to a more entrepreneurial firm; I wanted to continue my personal focus on cloud software implementations with the opportunity to know my coworkers, work hard, have fun, grow the business, grow my skills. That's what I'm getting at Appirio.
Also, a very transparent firm. Went to an all-hands in SF in July where our CEO spoke, and it was an refreshing, open, energizing experience to hear clear, honest discussions.
Last, I appreciate the ability to work at home a little more than I did for my previous consulting employer. To be clear there's still travel and client visits and office time when needed, but there's real attention paid to making work at home a productive option.
Very happy with the move.
Cons
There's more of a DIY ethos, and sometimes that adds busy work. (Sometimes it's great.) Example: business travel is more self-scheduled using the usual web tools rather than a corporate intranet site powered by a travel agency. Very much a pro sometimes; other times it's do it yourself which for a big-4 hire, needs adjustment.
