Pros

Competitive salaries and benefits . Some genuinely talented people and many colleagues passionate about doing their best for patients .

Cons

1. Tracked office attendance policy 3 days a week with threat of lost bonus or disciplinary. Introduced in uk in January after communication just before Christmas. 2. HR are just yes people with no autonomy and appear to believe they are above UK employment law.All decisions dictated by SET , even very senior managers appear powerless to influence decisions that affect their teams . 3. Flexible working agreements are usually denied despite clear business benefits and approved by line managers. 4. Lack of office space , specifically and Cambridge .This means that every day many employees do not have a desk , parking or access to quiet space to actually do their job . Leading to stress, anxiety and back and neck problems from having to use cafe area as an office .Clear breach of health and safety guidelines . 5. Occupational health have been advised that there has to be a clinical reason to grant home working , even employees with serious ongoing health issues are struggling to secure flexibility with the ‘office attendance policy’. 6. Company values are not adhered to , patient focused companies would care about staff wellbeing- they don’t . And as for a ‘ speak up’ culture , if you speak up no one is listening. 7. Zero carbon policy is an interesting one when forcing commute for no reasons . Global colleagues not able to travel to in person important meetings but senior executives appear to be exempt from this .

Pros

I imagine this is very dependent on line management but I find my team and supervisors to be true champions of a high performing and highly compassionate work culture. I find my work challenging and rewarding, and have had opportunities to learn and grow and be rewarded and recognized for my output. No job is perfect but I’m truly happy to work here and at a time when AZ is truly rising like a rocket.

Cons

Like any massive global corporate entity, things can sometimes move slowly and it can be challenging to navigate a high number of constantly evolving priorities and initiatives. That being said, AZ is very clear about its north stars and values which makes it possible to prioritize work that has the most impact and alignment with the company’s ambition and business prerogatives. 60% office attendance policy is also a bit funny when oftentimes I am on Teams calls with colleagues sitting in other areas of the world.
