Pros

There are 5 partners that know what they are doing and are willing to teach so long as time permits.

Cons

Everything you can imagine: 1) They hire people who are under qualified to high positions such as Managing Director/Sr. Manager. There is one in particular who knows nothing in tax and advertises being a partner. 2) Pay is super, super low....so if you want to be able to pay your bills without racking up debt, stay far away! The workers who perform the work get very little, to nothing to show for their efforts in terms of higher compensation and bonus. As an example, manager salaries after the 2016 raises were in the mid 80K's range, and no, I am not making this up! 3) Backstabbing is very high, so brace yourselves.

Strong team culture and they offered great flexibility throughout the internship.

Cons

High workload during busy season (although that is expected)

Pros

There actually are great people, but you play manager roulette.

Cons

BDO is notorious for promoting people who just never leave. The middle of the road, not great, not awful, people get promoted over and over again. There have been changes every 3 seconds since the ESOP. Terrible communication around change (non-existent). My manager's favorite term was "We are building the plane as we fly it". After 4 years, I was hoping to have more plane built. It was never built.
