Pros

Some good colleagues to work with.

Cons

Joining BDO Singapore office means you will be forced to purchase a work laptop with specifications determined by the IT Department. Payment will be deducted monthly from your salary. It is a non-negotiable deal. To survive the Management Consulting Services Department, you will have to be excellent in office politics or just do as you are told by the Executive Director. Within the period of the last one year, several Managers were told to resign for coming up with new ideas to improve the department. While those ideas were not taken into consideration by the management, the Managers were made to look as if they were they were at fault. Some of the newly promoted Managers and several experienced junior staffs have also resigned within the period of one year as they do not want to face the same fate. Junior staff has far more influence on the Executive Director. Majority of the management decisions are based on the opinions and views of the junior staff.

Pros

There actually are great people, but you play manager roulette.

Cons

BDO is notorious for promoting people who just never leave. The middle of the road, not great, not awful, people get promoted over and over again. There have been changes every 3 seconds since the ESOP. Terrible communication around change (non-existent). My manager's favorite term was "We are building the plane as we fly it". After 4 years, I was hoping to have more plane built. It was never built.
