Pros

When reading the reviews here about Canva before joining, it seemed quite amazing to read how great it was. As a recent newbie I can confirm that it really is as good as it says here. The team in London are all without exception incredibly friendly and welcoming, there is a relaxed approach and a great vibe in place. Lots of great activities to take part in and everyone is very supportive and helpful with the work you are doing. The benefits really are fantastic, with the Vibe and Thrive benefit being a different model and annual leave is higher than average. Plenty of opportunities here to shine if you are happy to put the effort in and work hard, creating ideas and making your own moments. Senior management here and Australia truly live the values and we are actively encouraged to join in with philanthropic activities to leave the world in a better place.

Cons

Not a con as such, but this is a very fast moving company growing at scale, so ideas and concepts change quickly. Whilst this works for me, it might not be for everyone who is looking for a more structured workplace.

The work culture is amazing and highly collaborative. There are plenty of opportunities to learn new technologies, and the perks/benefits are excellent. The work culture is amazing and highly collaborative. Cons

The company is growing very fast, so internal processes and structure change frequently. Work-life balance can be tricky during big product launches.

Pros

Product is beloved by users. Brand affinity is second to none which makes being a marketer a lot of fun. Genuinely good and caring coworkers who want to build something great. Hiring bar is high. Vibe and Thrive benefit is clever and unique.

Cons

Behind the brand is a cult like culture with the “founders” surrounded by yes people (whether they are aware of it or not). Mediocrity seems to be tolerated among management’s “old guard” causing tension and churn with newer and sometimes more experienced leaders. Insecure leaders at some of the highest levels perpetuate much of the toxic behaviors described in the reviews below such as gaslighting and favoritism. People “disappear” with little to no explanation, but hey, it’s the “Canva way”.
