Pros
The technical achievement is impressive. Rich was a true visionary when investing in the infrastructure needed to build an agile tech/bank empire.
Cons
The performance management approach is poisoning the company from the inside out. Everyone knows it except for the one person forcing it forward. It has created a toxic blend of constant anxiety, extreme politics, back-biting, self-preservation, and self-interest before mission. No one is ever doing their best work because the process creates so much noise. Forcing 15% of associates into the underperforming category twice a year feels ethically wrong, especially when you’re required to make up reasons that are unjustified and not commensurate with the actual performance and results.
