Pros

Good compensation for laterals (Can give you a 50% hike or more) Good chance to participate in organizational HR initiatives, conduct trainings, CSRs, etc. Long term onsite (If you are lucky to get one)

Cons

Long term onsite (No rotational policies) Poor increments (even in the range of 5-10 thousand INR annually) Untimely appraisal cycle (can vary from being conducted over 3 - 18 months) Limited scope for promotions (lateral joinees get better than you do... so much for being faithful to one company) No policy on working hours (Slog as your project demands, else relax) Can be asked to work on any technology despite your competence Promised opportunities like onsite might never be offered

Pros

Cognizant can be a great place to work at. You have to be self-motivated and driven. You won't often be given a script on how to do your job well. But if you are willing to search for new opportunities, you will find success.

Cons

Just like many other tech companies, layoffs are happening all the time. This often brings many projects to a complete halt. Management never communicates when someone is laid off. And when they are laid off, they often never back fill positions, leaving existing team members working the equivalent of three jobs at once. Most teams there are skeleton crews, ensuring that they cannot reach their full potential.
