Pros

If you're looking for just a paycheck then this is the place for you, but don't expect to really make money unless you're an executive. If you're lucky enough to get one of the few managers that's a person of color(PoC) then you'll have an actual chance regardless of your background/ethnicity.

Cons

Leadership talks big about embracing change but then they all freak out and can't handle it when it's time to actually take action to implement change, and they especially don't want to hear how some new process that some executive created in order to check the block for his bonus which has more people involved and takes longer now is going to cost more and impact the schedule. Company culture is big on favoritism to home grown Iowa/midwest and more concerned on if they know you or someone from your family personally as a good person rather than if you're the best fit/matched person for the position or promotion.........."You know he's a really good guy so let's promote him" OR "I know his dad is a great guy from when he worked here so let's promote him"......... If you're part of the white Iowa good ole boys network then you'll go far with career advancement because they like their own. People of color(PoC) have to do twice as much as non-PoC(whites) before ever being considered for a promotion even when the PoC has been on the path for promotion for years while the non-PoC has not even started thinking about a promotion path because they have less time and experience than their PoC peer that out performs them. If you look white then all levels of management will treat you differently than a PoC, but as soon as they find out your background/ethnicity is that of a PoC then they start to change their behavior overtime to where you'll get less & less opportunities presented to you even though you're outperforming your peers. Obvious disconnect between executive leadership and lower level management that makes me think the executives are surrounded by a bunch of "yes sir" upper management instead of people that would actually speak truth to them to drive change. Only 1 female executive leader over my entire tenure here and when she left the company late last year to retire there was never even a mention of it from the other executives yet for any other executive leader change or retirement they send out 3-5 emails even for the ones that get fired. Getting people to communicate is ridiculously hard because they're either scared to share information that needs to be shared because they think they're going to lose their job for some reason or they're waiting for you to ask the one specific question for that one specific vital piece of information that you wouldn't know anything about and should have been brought into the discussion from their part to begin with. Medical coverage options are so high deductible that you might as well just be cash only patient unless you have over several to ten thousand in medical bills every year. Do not pay any overtime or any additional compensation to salary employees that average over 40+ hours per week and sometimes even 50+ hours per week.

Pros

40 hr/wk Easy work for the pay Ability to use vacation with little notice Some leadership is willing to help you move up and increase pay quickly

Cons

Leadership does not communicate with one another Little room to move up or into another department without someone leaving Poor standards in comparison to other sites within the company Employees who do not meet efficiency standards receive no consequences and are not informed of process issues (leadership issue) Tribal knowledge seems to run the site, not standard work It is a family affair.
