a ton of fragile egos in the intellectual/professional field, and many have positional authority or influence to be weaponized and have you removed or make your life miserable. the work that you do will be stolen and people you've never heard or seen will swoop in and take your credit. being reactionary is rewarded while being proactive just looks like you have nothing to do. most leaders across the board perceive with their minds and not with their eyes. in short no due process just hearsay. layoffs happen often so job security is very questionable, people selected are friends look out for friends and not reflective of the business needs.
