Pros
After it purchased DHL in 2002, what was then known as Deutsche Post World Net became an international company overnight. As such, employees have the opportunity to be exposed to different cultures and approaches. Logistics being in itself already a fascinating field, the diversity of the almost 500,000-strong company makes this an even more interesting organization to work for.
Cons
The Corporate Center of Deutsche Post DHL is located in Bonn and is populated largely by Germans. This is where most of the conflict comes from, as many of its employees have never worked outside of the country and are therefore not aware of different local realities that exist in other countries. The department that I used to work in has a "we are the head office, so we know better" attitude which often provides more disservice to the very international DHL divisions. The department seems intent on controlling many of the greater organization's processes even though such controls are counter-productive and often results in greater resentment towards the Corporate Center.
