Pros

I've worked at Epic for nearly 6.5 years. Epic is filled with smart, motivated people--it's my favorite thing about the job. Starting a couple months into working here, you are able to start making a positive impact on our customers: hospital organizations looking to improve patient outcomes. You get a lot of responsibility early on, and for me, that pushed me to grow and be challenged. As you become more experienced, you make an impact not only in your customer work, but with other roles internally at Epic that interest you: for example, I'm involved with helping HR and in advising customers who've been live on Epic a while about how they can continue to improve, implement new features, etc. From talking with friends and those who've moved past Epic into other careers, there's lots we take for granted here as well: a beautiful campus, an amazing, changing menu of food supplied by our own Culinary team, and generally how well things are run here from orientation to our customer-wide conferences.

Cons

Sometimes work-life balance can be challenging, but I think it's also a bit osf an art that I've figured out over time and have been able keep up with all my hobbies (rock climbing, working out, and yoga) by finding ways to engage in them while travelling as well. I travel most weeks, which isn't ideal all the time to be honest, but at the same time, we keep our points and miles, and travel with a team usually, so there are benefits as well, so it is far from miserable. If you want a pet and are in the project manager role, find roommates, a partner, or a doggie daycare that can help care for him/her, "adopt" plants, or volunteer at animal shelter locally like I do :). Something to think about it whether or not you are passionate about our mission which essentially boils down to helping patients across the US and abroad--that's something that fuels a lot of people when the workload is high because we understand the impact our work has on the organizations we work with.
