Pros

Express is an employment agency, offering long and short term assignment's The local staff is amazing, and appreciative. I've had assignments as long as 9 months (paraprofessional in Special Education) as well as some short one (single events to two weeks) and they always give you the support needed, including a listening ear and encouragement when needed. They also help with resumes and long term job searches. They also do temp-to hire, which can be a great way to get your foot in the door. You can get a $25 referral bonus for qualified hires as well. There's a lot of variety in what they offer, which can really help keep you fresh while looking for the right fit. I worked for Randstad while living on the West Coast, they're often cited as one of the best in the world for this type of service. I would wholeheartedly state that the Lawrence office meets or exceeds any standard set there or anywhere else on a regular basis.

Cons

Hours vary, depending on assignment, since you are a temp you don't qualify for benefits. That's part of using any temp service however. As long as you keep your expectations realistic, you shouldn't have any issues.

Pros

The owner, Jessica, is fantastic as is the sales manager, Kirby. It can be a fun environment and putting people in a position to succeed is always rewarding.

Cons

Employees are not held to any sort of reasonable professional standard. Where it directly impacted this role at the time was that at least 25 hours every week were spent essentially begging employees to turn in time cards rather than doing anything productive. Standards seemed pretty inconsistent at times. The company felt a little aimless. There were several conflicting plans for the future. My understanding is that in the six months after my separation, they more or less replaced the entire staff for various reasons. Maybe they got it figured out now.
