Pros

Excellent Training, Outstanding benefits, Healthy work/life balance. Amazing tuition reimbursement. Great place to launch a career or facilitate a career change. Jaw-dropping 401(k) match and profit sharing. Best career decision I ever made! I am eternally grateful for the impact Fidelity has on me and my family. Transparently, my financial future will be dramatically and positively different because of my career at Fidelity. Very proud to tell others where I work!

Cons

The only con I have is that Fidelity is more focused on hiring externally than promoting from within. Much of this focus is due to recent cultural and economic events (i.e., 2020). From a business perspective, I understand the desire to capitalize on available and diverse talent but not at the risk of frustrating and overlooking your highly qualified and tenured associates. There is a simmering frustration among the ranks and will soon result in sizable attrition if not addressed. For example, I am the most credential and skilled associate of my team and keep getting overlooked for a particular role. The individuals that are being hired into this role are under credentialed and/or have less experience. It is the most frustrating thing in the world! For the first time in my tenure at Fidelity, I have started proactively looking outside the firm. It genuinely PAINS me to think I may have to join a competitor to advance my career and compensation.

Pros

Benefits including profit sharing and bonuses are great. The breadth of this company provides a great opportunity to try out different career paths or boost your current one.

Cons

In my current role, I am working overtime more often than I'd like with recognition that seems to only go so far until it sizzles out. That may be tied to the size of the company itself, where promotions work in a "trickle down" manner.
