Good people on the ground but archaic upper management. - Software Engineer Fidelity Investments Employee Review

Pros

The software developers all over are good people and nice to work with. 401k matching and health benefits are good. Work life balance can be good but varies wildly depending on team and manager and is getting worse with in-office mandates. It's not difficult to move to other teams and projects.

Cons

In office mandates are getting worse. Upper level management doesn't listen in general. There's a feeling of cheapness and corporateness that got worse in the last few years. Your salary will be low and don't expect yearly raise will even match inflation. Promotions are a rarity. 4 years ago I would've recommended Fidelity to my friends and fresh graduates. Today I wouldn't recommend it unless you're desperate.

Pros

Benefits and people are great. Internal mobility opportunities are amazing.

Cons

Hybrid, but strict schedule. The "F" in Fidelity stands for flexibility. Lower pay grade, but great job security in this role.

Pros

Benefits including profit sharing and bonuses are great. The breadth of this company provides a great opportunity to try out different career paths or boost your current one.

Cons

In my current role, I am working overtime more often than I'd like with recognition that seems to only go so far until it sizzles out. That may be tied to the size of the company itself, where promotions work in a "trickle down" manner.
