Here are two examples of company choosing horrible plan administrators for its benefit plans. 401k plan changed from Fidelity to New York Life. New York Life sent out a letter telling me it erroneously increased my contribution (I was already at 10%) and therefore had to correct the mistake by having money taken out. This meant I had to fill out one more tax form on April 15. This happened TWO YEARS in a row! Company uses VSP for eye doctors. At my previous employer, I would go to optometrist and only pay the co pay. Now I have to fill out form to get reimbursed and am still $80 "out of pocket" for a regular checkup. My optometrist's office manager told me that office dropped VSP 10+ years ago because of over complication.
