Pros

From the very beginning the interview process was thorough. Training whilst not outstanding is undoubtedly an investment from Gartner and you're not thrown into the deep end. The working hours are good and it's possible to have a good work life balance. Some good leaders - particularly RVPs in SMB Trips abroad for Symposium and Winners/recognitions trips (although these have been watered down in recent years) Average to good benefits with pension/healthcare and annual leave.

Cons

Whilst the day to day and brand of Gartner are outstanding and the job enjoyable, there are a number of issues which stem from the strategy. Focus is placed on growing the number of people instead of developing this existing workforce. High levels of staff turnover exists and this is very unsettling for the environment. For example relationships with clients can't truly be developed as there's a revolving door and the accounts you take over have a negative or damaged perception of your role. In addition the territories are now very small, which makes it much harder to reach your number. There seems to be more of a hire and fire culture in the past year and the impact that's had on staff morale is evident. Why do you expect people to stay when you show no loyalty to them? There's a lot of discontent amongst people I spoke with since leaving. Success is often hugely dependent on your assigned manager. There are some good managers but there are some hopeless managers who micro manage you, calling you in the evenings and on your holidays. Teams have also been left without management last year which was hugely detrimental, with no acknowledgement made by senior management how that might have impacted development. The journey into work is long and the office is in the middle of nowhere. You spend a lot of money getting into work and this adds £200 per month. The office is dull, however if you wait for another year they're building a brand new office next door. Until then there's constant building work taking place. If you're considering moving to Gartner I would really question the decision. The atmosphere has changed within SMB along with the chances of you being let go within 12 months. It's not an inspiring place to work but merely somewhere which pays the bills and gets you to your next job.

Pros

Being a globally recognized company makes it easy to consistently engage clients. Great benefits. Amazing people (managers and colleagues) For the most part there is a clear path to success and promotions. Executives listen to feedback after every internal call to help guide strategy.

Cons

In office mandate increasing in office days from once a month to once a week. Need to live in Florida or Texas because of the in office mandate. Promotions take a while since there are many people going for the same roles. Hard to reach clients and constant territory’s shifting makes it difficult to achieve the numbers you and management expect.
