Great to learn, a lot of politics and waiting - Client Success Manager Gartner Employee Review

Pros

Great place to learn a lot, surrounded by incredibly bright minds, culture encourages open feedback and support, product is valued by many clients. Benefits are great, generous PTO starting at 20 days and increased with tenure. Would recommend Gartner to someone early in their career. Locking in your "brand" early on is a necessity, which is nice if you know how to play the game, but otherwise associates are questioned about their contribution by not having a distinguishable brand.

Cons

A lot of politics internally and management typically promotes those they favor. I have seen many employees across CSO be promised promotions and then wait over a year, sometimes 2, to see it happen. I have gone far outside of my job description and worked countless hours away from my clients in order to receive a promotion at Gartner. Challenges are heard but never acted on, and leadership will hold skip level meetings that end up being the exact same conversations every single time. Pay is not competitive, associates are expected to make up for sub-par onboarding training for those joining their teams, and often for AEs.

Work life balance, though in late 2026 will be required to go back to office. Full autonomy for your own schedule.

Cons

Absolutely no path for growth.

Pros

Being a globally recognized company makes it easy to consistently engage clients. Great benefits. Amazing people (managers and colleagues) For the most part there is a clear path to success and promotions. Executives listen to feedback after every internal call to help guide strategy.

Cons

In office mandate increasing in office days from once a month to once a week. Need to live in Florida or Texas because of the in office mandate. Promotions take a while since there are many people going for the same roles. Hard to reach clients and constant territory’s shifting makes it difficult to achieve the numbers you and management expect.
