Pros
I enjoy working for HCA. As a practice coordinator for physicians. I am exposed to corporate meetings that would actually help me long term in a career of healthcare administration. I am learning how to communicate with physicians everyday, learn more about HIM discrepancies that physicians must fix before claims can be submitted to insurances. I am learning about medical staff recruitments and what are the steps it takes to hire a physician. My direct supervisor has an open door policy where I am able to come to her about anything at any time. I do have a work life balance. I start early and leave early everyday Monday through Friday with no weekends. They hire within. I seen a IT Tech specialist became a COO in a matter of five years, that is what put the icing on the cake for me. They have great employee benefits, even a HOPE fund where employees who are facing financial hardship can request to receive monetary assistance to get back on their feet. Majority of the leadership at my location are friendly.
Cons
The pay is extremely low. Even with my then plus years working as an administrative support for hospitals, the offer rate was extremely low and I was not able to negotiate.
