Pros
What I loved most about working there is that there’s a well documented, streamlined process for everything that you do. Any changes to those processes are documented with timestamps, including their reason for that update. Of course, I’ve heard differently from a few of the staff members working in hospitals, but I can only speak for my experiences in the department I worked in. I also liked the fact that as a company they offered employees the opportunity to search and sign up for any needed community volunteer projects- again, streamlined process with well documentation of any volunteer hours, etc. Any questions on cases being worked throughout the day, etc- most answers could be answered by referencing their processes due to such a well detailed documentation system.
Cons
From day one, I always felt almost everyone there seemed to carry an all too “perfect” persona. I’m not sure how to even truly describe it, but I felt like there weren’t really any genuine connections between people, more-so, just a group of “masked” professionals working together, playing their roles. I understand this is common in some workplaces, but I’ve never seen it to the extent that I felt at HCA…I’ve always been curious as to if I’m the only person that ever felt this way? I was an employee almost five years, and never shared my thoughts on it with anyone there. Additionally, I think to be such a large business, it should be much easier to unexpectedly take sick time off, if necessary.
