Pros

As a long-term employee, I’m still proud to work at Honeywell and genuinely believe that we have some of the best people in the industry. The opportunities the company has afforded me have been vast and my career growth continues. The fast pace can be challenging but the skill development you get in return is great if you are someone who doesn’t mind change and can be flexible. The recent increase in paid maternity leave in the U.S. was excellent to see, I hope the company keeps up the good work in taking steps to make this a more women friendly work environment. Our track record in having women in senior positions is not stellar and our diversity at senior levels in general, not just gender related, needs more focus. The recent change is meaningful and deserves to be called out positively.

Cons

From middle management and up the demands are great, this can hugely impact work/life balance. As such, the restrictive work from home policy that was introduced a year ago just isn’t realistic. This is a truly global company and we need to work at odd hours to effectively do our jobs. This means taking calls remotely, being available after hours etc. It’s not appropriate to demand that employees must turn up at an office everyday while still expecting this kind of flexibility in return. The policy is also making it harder for those in management and leadership positions to recruit and retain talent.

Pros

I really didn’t find any pros. This was by far the worst experience of my career.

Cons

Company is solely focused on hitting quarterly results by any means possible which limits any long term thinking or decision making. The culture is cut throat, the open floor plan limits the ability to connect with co-workers, allows for zero personal space and feels like working in a call center. Leadership has adopted the GE model from the 80’s and has no idea how to treat people. For example,I was called ‘f$%^ing’ stupid by a C-Suite leader and was present in many meetings involving Sr. Leaders cussing out junior employees. To say it was demoralizing would be an understatement. The company claims to be on the cutting edge of technology, but it’s all show, smoke and mirrors. This is a thermostat, scanner and floor fan company that cannot figure out how to innovate beyond adding Bluetooth or moving the power button. Software products are developed by people with absolutely no knowledge of operations and the turnover rate is beyond acceptable. Most of the positive reviews on this site are written by people who are new to Honeywell and in the honeymoon period. This is intentional and is an action in the onboarding process to make the company look better than it is. Reviews by tenured employees are generally poor and consistent with this feedback.
