Pros
- Above average pay for a fresh grad - Excellent mentors (for me at least) - Relevant real impact projects - A major contender in Big Data and Telecom Infrastructure - Direct application of skills learnt from uni - Nice building, office, and perks
Cons
- Politics: most people are just trying to earn a high salary. So they put on a mask, say some nice words, and try to dodge any unsavory experience. Don't expect Ren Zhengfei's famous directness. Draw a big biscuit. - Frequent OT, not due to the workload, but inefficiency. For example, a 2-day task could be extended to 1 week or more (with OT). Inefficiencies include: 1. Poor communication: one guy says A, the other says B. 2. Disagreement is discouraged: If you say "But he wants A?" then you're hard to work with. 3. No guidance at all: Wanting work-related details is like praying to God for an answer. (mentors not included) Additions: - No basic standard procedures for development at all. - The manager and team lead constantly move the goalpost on a rush project they had more than 1 year to do. - Gaslight, gaslight, gaslight. If you join here, make sure to record every virtual meeting and get it in writing. I OT on national holiday for bs. - I lost my appetite after 1 month and 2 weeks due to toxic workplace culture. Idk what they learned from IBM, but I don't think this is it Mandarin is the dominant language, but English is still widely used.
