Pros

Institutional Stability: A "fortress balance sheet" means high job security even in volatile markets. Competitive Compensation: Base salary is market-leading for the finance sector in Singapore/APAC. Work-Life Balance: Generally respected within Corporate Center/Client Service functions; predictable hours compared to Front Office.

Cons

Promotion Paradox: Career progression often favors those leading "high-visibility" or "flashy" projects that may lack long-term substance, while the core BAU that keep the bank running are overlooked or undervalued. Tech-Operations Gap: Upper management often feels disconnected from the day-to-day technical realities. This leads to a heavy reliance on manual workarounds rather than true platform innovation. Inelastic Bonuses: Variable compensation feels disconnected from firm-wide record profits; bonuses remain flat regardless of individual or company performance. Email Fatigue: High volume of unnecessary internal/external communication caused by legacy manual processes.

Pros

Large company so can consider movement

Cons

No standard bonus starting % for VP level. Definitely don’t care about wellbeing. No adjustable desks. Force you to come in 5 days a week yet no meetings in person because no company issued laptops. Waste of time to go into the office just to sit on a call with people sitting on your floor. Cant work from a location near my house but others can, no clear standard policy. People are fine but the culture breeds impersonal, transactional behaviors. Free drinks and snacks but a 1/4 of those are healthy options. Which go within minutes. Whatever is left and the majority is trash like coke, Pepsi, diet stuff, redbulls, chips, candy.
