Pros

Usually a good work life balance but depends on the LOB. WFH half the time - should be less IMO. Pay is alright and usually scales with cost of living. Once you're in, you're in and it can be a cushy job for many. The 'fun' is really dependent on what you are doing, it's fintech so it can get ugly but it can also be super cool AI/ML. You can get into some cloud projects as well.

Cons

Upper management is afraid to get their hands dirty. They push for things without telling the underlings their goal, nor get their feedback on the feasibility. They only understand the projects at a surface level. Nobody helps each other or does the bare minimum. As a result I feel like Soviet Russia where people say "everything is fine" yet no progress is being made. There is a lot of obscurity between upper management and their engineers. Even lower management is locked into endless meetings meaning they can never actually check in at a granular level.

Pros

They treat people well overall. It's all about connecting to others to get anything done, so if you're great with networking and maintaining connections it's a good place to work. Honestly the kindest layoff I've ever experienced, including genuine internal support to find another job. Still doing meaningful DOI work, including some of the best friendly benefits out there.

Cons

If you don't have a highly specialized cyber security skill set or work at a main campus in Texas, Ohio, Delaware, New York or New Jersey don't expect to ever move up the ladder. Staying focused on goals OR successfully communicating strategy pivots seems to be beyond most MDs in Global Technology. They seem to be having a re-org problem at the moment. I had 5 managers in the last 365 days I was there, hardly time to get any work done and then challenged at the end to show impact or delivery, all you can do is shrug and say 'tell me how, when you moved me every 2 months?"
