Despite the flaccid HR response that is sure to follow and which will try to convince you otherwise, employees are NOT the most valuable asset, as evidenced by the continued stream of firings and the most recent management shake-up. During my time there, I saw dozens of intelligent, committed, experienced professionals get shown the door with zero warning. Communication around those changes was virtually non-existent, which only increased the fear and made those remaining check out. Analyst relations were poor, as demonstrated the recent inability to keep SciQuest in the Gartner Magic Quadrant despite lots of progress on the product.
How much of this can be traced to the now-former CEO and how much is ingrained in the culture? Who knows. But if you're considering a job there, don't be fooled by words. Observe actions, and get commitments in writing.
